Frequently Asked Questions

This section will be a 'work in progress' and will be constantly updated as questions are asked. Please use the Contact Information page.
Also, many questions can be answered by re-reading the nomination paperwork.
1. Can we pit form our trailers?
As a general rule, you cannot pit from your trailer on the bitumen, however there are a few exceptions to this rule, you will already know if your one of these. There will be a large section in the top level in the pits where you can, but it will be first in best dressed, and you will have quite a way to push your karts! If you still want to pit from your trailer, you should BYO lighting. Please do not drive vehicles in the bottom level. Do not pit in marked off areas.
2. If I race both nights, do I need 2 x one day licences ?
Please contact Speedway Australia directly to clarify your one day licence need, as everyone will have a different situation.
3. Why can't I use my 'Standard Speedway Kart' for the All Power Nationals main event ?
Standard Speedway Karts have their own feature on the Friday night, and are racing for the same $$ as for the main event. We ask that you do not use your Standard in the All Powers due to the safety aspect. The Standards are simply too under-powered to compete against the All Power karts, and could create an obstacle causing a collision. However, we are well aware that we are totally unable to police this! We are well aware that Standards Speedway Karts have in the past appeared in the All Power Nationals on Saturday night! And we are well aware that Standard Speedway Karts DO fit the Modified Speedway Kart technical specifications !  Please show the club and your fellow racers the courtesy of not purposely nominating your Standard kart for Saturday nights feature.
*** Note***
125cc engines are not permitted to take any part in the All Power Nationals.

4. Can I camp at the track ?
YES! But toilet and shower facilities are basic. You need to inform us of your intentions, so we can make sure the hot water is turned on.
We prefer campers to stay in the upper carpark, to the right of the clubrooms as you arrive, as this is the nearest to the toilet facilities, and you will be away from the racing carparks.
5. Can I change classes or get a refund ?
Up until the close of entries, you are welcome to change classes, just send written confirmation to our race secretary, as well as any cash balance. However, as the draw is done straight after entries close, any changes after that date will put you rear of field.
As a general rule, we do not issue refunds, instead we prefer to give you a credit, which you can use the next time you race with us. A refund my be issued in some circumstances, at the Treasurer's discretion, providing we are contacted prior to the event.
6. When can we start setting up our pit bay?
You cannot start setting up your pit bay until Friday morning. Please do not ask or try to do it before hand, we will pull it down. If your only racing Saturday, do not set up your pit bay Friday. We will pull it down. If your racing both nights, you may leave your shade shelter etc overnight, but at your own risk.
7. When can I practise ?
Practise is Thursday night only. There will be no practise, hot laps, or running in of engines on Friday or Saturday so please do not ask. If you need to run in engines etc, we recommend Dirt Worx at Koorlong. Alternatively, you are welcome to race at any of our other race meetings during the year if you'd like to get your set up sorted.
8. I dont know my transponder number yet
If your transponder is on order, or you are about to order one, please just write "on order" in this box, and let us know as soon as it arrives. We will need to know the number by 12th May so our system can be set up. If we dont hear from you, you will be invoiced for a hire fee
9. Do I need a separate transponder for each kart ?
Yes. You will not have time to be changing over transponders. You will also not be able to share a transponder with anyone else.
The exception to this is if you are racing 2 classes, on 2 separate nights. For example, you can use the same transponder on your Modified on Friday night, and again on your All Power on Saturday night. You will not be able to share a transponder between 2 karts on the same night.
Whilst we appreciate this is a costly event to race at, you simply will not have enough time keep changing transponders between races.
10. Will my AIDKA legal J Engine pass the SKAA J Engine tests ?
Probably. We have spent a lot of time talking to professional engine builders who build for both disciplines and they have explained that AIDKA checks for slightly different things as apposed to SKAA, but in most cases the same engine should pass both checks. But just to be sure, we recommend that you check with your engine builder.
11. Why haven't you answered my inbox yet ?
Please remember that we are all volunteers, and we are doing our best. As well as fielding the multiple questions we are receiving daily, we are working full time on organising this event. Most of the questions we get asked you could easily answer yourself by doing just a tiny bit of research. Sometimes instead of answering your question personally, we will post it up here, so if you dont get an answer straight away, please check this page.
We will not tolerate rudeness if we do not get around to answering your question. Sending us an inbox demanding that we answer your question, or sending nothing but multiple question marks will only get your nomination rejected.
12. I told you last year to save me a pit bay, why didnt you ?
Every year our committee of management changes, and so do those managing the pit bays. There is no way for us to co-ordinate all of the pit bays that people think they have saved.  Unless you have paid money for a pit bay, then you do not have one reserved for you.
13. My Junior is using a One Day licence. Does the Guardian still need a full Speedway Australia Licence, or will an one day pit crew licence suffice ?
As we have often been asked this question, we have requested a clarification from Speedway Australia. This was their written response:

Thanks for the email and query on this ruling, please see  of rule 2.2.8 from the Speedway Australia rule book. All junior drivers competing whether they hold a full annual licence or competing with a one day competition licence, are required to have a parent or guardian who holds an Annual Speedway Australia Licence.  The responsible person in care of the junior driver does not need to be their parent,  so long as they hold an Annual licence, which can be a competition, mechanic/pit entry or officials licence.  This person can also be responsible for more than one junior driver.   For example if one parent holds an annual mechanic’s licence, they could be responsible for their own junior driver and also their friend’s junior driver.  The responsible person in care of the junior driver can’t do this with just a normal one day pit entry licence.  Hope this clarifies the ruling for you, please contact us if you require any further information.

13. Why do I have to change my number ? There is no one else with my number on the website list yet ?
Your number is reserved for you from the time you nominate, and you have the rights to that number until the 8th May, when if you haven't supplied us with all the information we need, or paid your money, your nomination will be removed from out lists.
If there is a problem with your race number, our Race Secretary will contact you directly.
If you really wanted to use your number, then we suggest nominating next year as soon as nominations open.
Failure to use the number allocated to you by the Race Secretary, may get you put Rear of Field in all heats.
14. Can I bring an esky with my own drinks ?
Yes. We have no problems with bringing your own drinks or food. Although there will be plenty available at the track, and we would love for you to support our caterers.
However
Under no circumstance, are glass bottles allowed on the complex. Anyone who is found to have a glass bottle in their possession, will be asked to leave the complex immediately. This is a requirement from our Landlords, and must be strictly enforced.
